Yemen’s children condemned to sickness and famine by war

Since the renewed outbreak of hostilities in Yemen six years ago, more than 100,000 people have died. Now hunger threatens millions of its children. Charity and UN aid supplies to Yemen’s shattered towns and villages are collapsing under the competing financial demands of the international pandemic, and the UN now says the hunger that threatened 20 million people with starvation has returned. Twelve million children are in need of assistance, Unicef said, as the civil war rumbles on, and returning diseases — as well as the new — exact a fresh toll.
